Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   This context in the SE corner of Unit 2, Room 2, is related very closely to context 540, also rocky floor fill. It is a layer of floor fill, like the majority of contexts excavated in this area of this campaign so far. This layer of floor fill has slightly fewer inclusiosn than deposit 540, but these inclusions are more varied in type (including, e.g., several hollowed-out pieces of lead).
The removal of this floor layer revealed the outline of what is perahps the true border for the directly W of and adjacent to this context, which was perhaps slightly underdug during the 1990s. We will proceed by excavating subsequent underlaying floor layers in an effort to find a pit cut at the center of the room and cuts for foundation trenches for the room's walls. The removal of this surface also revealed the outline of a square object (possibly a bench?) against which the floor abutted. See photos (2014 764 and 766) for this feature.
