| Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | We begin digging at the lowest level reached in the previous excavations (NB869 B92), removing the floor level in Room F in hope of finding a foundation trench for the wall to the south to give us a construction date for this complex and perhaps the church to the east. Some floor plaster and ceramic tile is preserved, though it is in very bad shape. The tiles are all broken and shifted for the most part. We remove these tiles to expose the subfloor. We excavate the first layer of floor and find a patch of hard floor against Wall 135. The rest of the fill below this context seems continuous. The northern boundary of this context was chosen arbitrarily to include the area in which the foundation trench probably lies. Animal bones, 0.1 kg, thrown. | |
