Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 794

Title:   fill in grave cut south of grave 2015-08
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1109
Context:   794
Date:   2015/05/20
Stratum:   inclusions: 10-15% pottery, bone, tile, coarse pebbles, cobbles (angular, tabular), small boulders (subrounded spherical)
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greenish brown. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   We could see for some time that there were 2 graves toward the southern end of Room 6 which were cut by later, already excavated burials. We saw some long bones and ribs sticking out of the southwestern scarp of Grave 1996-02 as well as a covering tile sticking our of the northern scarp of Grave 1996-01. We also found an adult foot in the southern end of grave 2015-08 (just west of the skull of skeleton 775). The adult foot in grave 2015-08 and the covering tile likely belong together - the distance between them and relative elevations seem correct, while the long bones and ribs seen in the side of grave 1996-02 likely belong to a different burial. We could clearly see a cut at the eastern edge for one or both of these burials after removing context 789, but we could not see the western edge, so we started context 794 to find the western edge of the cut. Kostas quickly found the western edge - just under the eastern edge of grave 2014-05.
