Description:   Bell-krater with nearly vertical body profile curivng out of flaring rim with horizontal lip, rounded in upper profile. Two horizontal canted loop handles, attached to upper body.
Decoration:   Side A: above lower border of maeander and cross-in-square: Orpheus and the Thracians. Orpheus sits in center, on rock covered with animal skin. Wears chlamys, holds lyre in lap, plectron in rt. hand. 2 figures completely wrapped in Thracian cloaks lean on sticks. Side B: lower part of a draped figure to rt. On rim laurels to rt. Relief contour: staves, lyre, front line of Thracian cloaks. Red over white: fruits and stems of laurel. Red wash on reserved portions. Ovules around handles. Interior glazed.

Attributes:   Chlamys, lyre, plectron.
Material:   Pinkish-buff Attic clay.
Condition:   Fragment. Many joining frgts., missing foot and lower body, most of side B,, part of side A. Glaze much worm.

Period:   5th c. B.C.
