Title:   BLACK-GLAZED BELL KRATER, CORINTHIAN EXAMPLE OF WEST SLOPE WARE

Description:   Krater with ring foot in two degrees: lower an inverted echinus, upper a flange. Lip in two degrees: lower is convex, upper is a double fillet. High full body sharply separated from foot, opening into wide bell lip; horizontal rolled handles curving upwards, pointed knobs on either side of handles.
Decoration:   Good black glaze; garland of incised vines, white dot flowers and red leaves around upper part. Handle zones decorated with ivy garlands: incised stems dilled with miltos, leaves growing right in added miltos, dot rosettes between leaves in added white paint, undulating line though garland in added miltos. Underside of foot covered with wash. Resting surface of foot reserved. Miltos in grooves between first and second defrees of foot and lip, and at juncture of foot to body.
Material:   Fine, light-buff clay.
Munsell Color:   10YR 8/4 (very pale brown)
Condition:   Complete profile. Large body frgts., restored.
