Description:   Articulated kantharos with flaring ring foot. Resting surface bevelled to concave underside. Biconical body with angular carination set at approx. two-thirds the height of the body. Lower walls convex. Upper walls slightly concave, inlcined. Rounded bevelled in lip inturned. Two vertical strap spur handles with rectangular strap thumbrests attaching just below lip and at mid upper body.
Decoration:   Red glaze over all. Incised line on one side between carination and bottom of handle zone. Scraped groove at bottom of handle zone, scraped groove just below lip, and incised zigzag line just below and touching upper scraped groove, all interrupted by handles. Side A: graffito. Side B: vertical ivy leaf in center touching zigzag line.
Writing:   graffito. Greek, on Side A in middle of handle zone.
ERISTOC
Material:   Fine pink clay with few fine to small black,, rare medium to large red, white, and black inclusions, and rare medium to large voids.
Munsell Color:   5YR 7/4 pink
Condition:   Complete profile. Five joining frgts., preserving all of foot except several chips, two-thirds of body, and both handles. Surface has red glaze partly worn with large black firing clouds on interior and exterior. Large concentric crack in clay of underside. RIP.
