Description:   Column-krater with flaring ring foot, ovoid body with maximum diameter above the median, tapering in to a tall cylindrical neck sharply distinguished from the body with a thin ring of clay accentuating the join, neck ends in a squared rim concave on the vertical face which is also undercut and pointed, handles in the form of two arched upright members round in section attached on shoulder supporting on top a vertical rectangular plaque attached at almost a 90 degree angle to a flat rectangular plaque attached to the rim.
Decoration:   On exterior black-glazed overall except for reserved surfaces covered in orange wash; undersurface of foot plain, reserved zone around foot containing rays, followed by wide black bands framing reserved zone with lotus and palmette chain alternately reversed (H. 0.06), with added white dots on the lotus and palmette hearts and with added purple on the lotus calykes; traces of two added purple bands at root of handle, reserved panel with small trace of decoration between handles; groups of alternating black and purple tongues hanging at intervals from neck and body join; stepped zigzags on vertical face of rim; added purple on sides of handle-plates; interior solidly black glazed with two added purple bands framed by added white lines running around the circumference of the neck. Material:   Fine very pale brown clay fired reddish yellow at core with few medium to very large spherical angular white and spherical rounded black and red inclusions.
Munsell Color:   Surface: 10YR 8/3 (very pale brown), Core: 7.5YR 7/6 (reddish yellow)
Condition:   Fragment. Numerous joining fragments preserving small part of body, one quarter rim and neck, handle-plate. Glaze mostly well-preserved, worn particularly along the edges. Non-join. frgts of rim, bs (964-68, Lot 04-17) and 6 bs from Lot 04-19 left in Lot 04-19.
