Description:   Neck-handled amphora with flaring ring foot, flat resting surface, slightly concave undersurface, ovoid body with max. diam. above the median of the body, cylindrical neck flaring out to echinus-shaped rim with rounded lip; vertical strap handles attached to shoulder and neck at two thirds of its height. Profile similar to CP 860 (Corinth VII,1, p. 17, no. 58, pl. 10).
Decoration:   Red to black glaze overall with reserved undersurface and resting surface of foot; five sets of three reserved lines on body up to max. diam., one set of four reserved lines just below handles; window-panel on either side of neck with three reserved lines above and below enclosing from bottom to top four zigzag lines framed by two reserved lines on the sides, two reserved lines, hatched meander pattern; groups of eight vertical black lines (in one case nine) at regular intervals in reserved band around rim, black band continues just inside rim; handles reserved on undersurface, on top from bottom to top three horizontal lines twice alternating with X framed by two vertical lines on either side topped by five horizontal lines, black line along edges of handles. Decoration similar, but not identical, to Kerameikos 866 (Coldstream, Greek Geometric Pottery, 1968, pl. 3d).
Material:   Fine pink clay fired reddish yellow at core with few large to very large angular spherical white lime, rare small spherical rounded black, rare small to medium sparkling inclusions, and few medium to large angular spherical voids.
Munsell Color:   Surface: 7.5YR 7/4 (pink), Core: 7.5YR 7/6 (reddish yellow)
Condition:   Complete profile. Numerous joining fragments preserve all of foot, 3/4 body, 1/2 neck, 1/4 rim; one handle complete, one missing lower 1/4. Glaze 3/4 fugitive. Non-joining frgmnts left in Lot 2006 18 (NB 979, B 65).
