Description:   Krater with cylindrical stem foot, wide-splayed at the bottom, ribbed at the upper half, with bevelled resting surface, ovoid body with max. diam. above the median, offset vertical rim with vertical rounded lip, composite handles with canted loop part attached to the shoulder and vertical straps rising from their midpoint and attached at the rim. Profile similar, but not identical, to C-37-1 (Corinth VII.1, p. 25, no. 73, pl. 12) and Kerameikos 290 (Coldstream, Greek Geometric Pottery, 1968, pl. 5f).
Decoration:   Black glazed overall exterior with reserved undersurface and resting surface; three sets of three reserved lines each divide lower body up to max. diam. to equal parts; panels on both sides of handle zone resting on upper set of lines framed on top by single line and on the vertical sides by metopes bordered by three vertical reserved lines on either side containing a chain of crosshatched lozenges; central panel contains two black zigzag lines above and below enclosing from bottom to top two reserved lines, hatched meander pattern, two reserved lines; on rim above panel three reserved lines with lower thicker containing row of dots (81on one side, 73 on the other); reserved triangle on body under handles, underside of handles reserved, upperside of vertical handles painted with horizontal lines, upperside of canted handles painted black. Interior black glazed. Decoration similar to C-37-1 (Corinth VII.1, p. 25, no. 73, pl. 12) and Kerameikos 290 (Coldstream, Greek Geometric Pottery, 1968, pl. 5f).
Material:   Fine very pale brown clay fired pink with few small to medium sub-rounded platy black inclusions and rare medium to large sub-rounded tabular voids.
Munsell Color:   Surface: 10YR 8/4 (very pale brown), 7.5YR 7/4 (pink)
Condition:   Complete profile. Numerous joining fragments preserve the whole vase except for upper half of vertical strap of one handle and chips on rim, body and foot. Glaze preserves decoration, crackled and worn mostly on upper half, better preserved on lower half of vessel.
