Description:   Prize jug or Ewer. Flat base, slightly raised. Body squat ovoid; neck attaches with step; there is a ridge at the base of the neck. Neck tall and narrow. Beak long and low. One vertical strop handle with ridge down center running from back of spout to shoulder, where handle attaches on shoulder at the ridge. Keeps going and ends in a knob below the handle. FS 143 (low beaked jug) of LH II B
Decoration:   thick creamy buff slip; decoration in lustrous brown paint, somewhat thinnish in places. 3 groups of double spirals with small papyrus motifs on either side of the tangent. The spirals make ca. 8 revolutions. Around the base of the neck on the shoulder is a foliate band motif with a small ^ motif between the tops of each leaf. On the neck, above the band on the ridge are tongue patterns. The spout has bands on its underside; the rim is painted inside and outside, the handle is painted. There is a motif of 3 ribbons under the handle. The base and lower part are painted and there is a band just above the painted area. FM 47 (double and triple spiral)

Condition:   Complete or intact. Mended from ca 45 sherds. Several small sherds, including part of spout R.I.P, otherwise complete.
