Description: | Thymiaterion (incense burner) in shape of cup with associated cover. Conical convex bowl with flanged rim resting on incurved stem. Circular base with concave undersurface. High conical cover with slighlty convex sides fits around flange, terminating in pinched biconical boss handle. Twelve triangular punches of varying dimensions pierce cover along shoulder. | |
Decoration: | Conventionalizing style. Bichrome slip painted, with horizontal bands of alternating red and black slip of varying widths decorating exterior of cup and associated cover, including flange. Interior of cover undecorated, while interior of cup includes two bands of black slip. | |
Material: | Fine very pale brown clay. Fabric not visible. | |
