Description:   Lamp with echinoid body, broad nearly flat rim with panels, plastic ring framing shallow concave disk, small fill hole off-center at 12:00, small air hole at edge of disk. U-shaped nozzle with raised panel around it. Vertical pierced lug handle with 3 grooves on top.
Decoration:   Rim: four groups of 3 large dots on each half of rim. disk: in relief: gladiatorial scene: at lt., hoplomachus kneeling on lt. knee, body front, head turned to rt., straight sword in rt. hand, shield on lt.; at rt. thrax moves to rt., looking back, with long curved sword in rt. hand, shield on lt.
Material:   Fine heavy pale pinkish buff clay with frequent sparkling inclusions, rare lime and at least one red inclusion.
Munsell Color:   10YR 7/4
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving nearly half body from above bottom, 3/4 rim, all disk, nozzle and upper half of handle. Burning on nozzle.
