Description: | Mouldmade terracotta figurine of bearded male figure, perhaps kriophoros (ram-bearer). Circular skull cap extends over forehead, with heavy roll or band at bottom. Eyes large with distinguished brow ridges. Lower part of face covered by mustache and long, heavy beard. Short, small incisions on beard to indicate texture at proper left. Almond-shaped eyes incised. Behind head and to proper right male figure carries a large object on shoulders, perhaps ram (kriophoros) or calf (moschophoros). Figurine solid. Head nearly identical to MF-3339. Hermes Kriophoros? | |
Material: | Fine yellow clay with few rounded spherical and tabular voids. | |
