Description:   Statuette of Artemis with legs widely separated, rt. turned out 45 degrees, lt. only slightly out; feet shod in boots. To proper lt. of figure is a crouching boar, forepaws over lt. boot; head tilted upwards with almond-shaped incised eye, ears laid back, ruff around head and neck, bristle down back; 3 rows of locks run down length of lt. side. Rasp marks on rt. Side. Behind rt. Foot is a support/tree trunk; against its rt. Edge is tail of something. Plinth in plan straight across front, curved from sides to back. Surface of plinth roughly picked, as are sides; plinth not of consistent thickness but bottom tapers from 0.032 in front to 0.011 in back. Plinth set into a deep cutting in a rusticated base, all sides of which roughly worked to suggest rocky setting; sides and bottom of cutting worked with point; bottom of base flat, worked with point. Adaptation of the Artemis Rospigliosi type. Belongs with: S-1999-17A, S-1999-17D, S-1999-18.
Decoration:   Red paint on boar, base of support, top of plinth, on parts of base.

Condition:   Fragment. Three joining frgts., preserving right foot, front of lt. foot, most of boar except head, forelegs, base of support; all of plinth and base. Paint partially preserved. Found under S-1999-8. July 2015: Boar broken off, not reattached (S-1999-9B).
