The highest preserved point gives the start of the upward curve of the neck. Fragment of border missing. Foot badly chipped. Plump body; shallow echinus ring foot. Lower border, egg and dot. Palaestra: at right, facing left, a nude male figure holding a pair of javelins by his side. Weight on right leg, left knee bent; his bent right arm raised; the javelins in his left hand. His body from the waist missing. Before him a sitting dog, watching him. At center, a male figure, frontal, with head turned to his left. Most of the face and part of the neck and chest lost. The bent right arm raised to a tall staff; the weight on the left foot; the right knee bent. His himation, worn over his left shoulder and arm, has a black border and decoration. At left, a nude athlete striding right with left foot advanced. Part of his chest and of his left foot lost. His arms are raised before him, a haltere in each hand. ; ; Relief contour: partial on the two right-hand figures; almost complete on the left-hand. Dilute glaze: the dog's coat, and the folds of the himation. Preliminary sketch: traces on right arm and to left of central figure; and on arms, body and leg of left-hand figure. ; ; Clay pinkish-buff. Glaze lustrous in part but fired chocolate brown in places. Much worn on lower part of vase.
