Title:   Marble Stylobate Block

Description:   Complete block except for chips.
Rebate on lower front face. The visible (left) end treated with anathyrosis - the interior rough - picked in parallel grooves using a point. Cutting for a dowel at bottom. Elsewhere surfaces are finished with a claw chisel and a rasp.
Very heavy footwear (0.05-0.06) on both front and back edges.
Pentelic marble.
Notes:   Resting on fill at the upper level of the Byzantine walls. Catalogued July 15, 2020.
Context:   Found embedded upside down in the South Scarp of ΒΘ east.
