Description: | Both ends broken off; elsewhere all faces preserved. A ceiling beam designed to be the end of a series, as only one side (and the bottom) is carefully worked. Bottom plain, face plain, with a simple cove-molding at its top. The top has a ledge at the front, ca. 0.034m. lower than the rest of the top. In face of beam, a cutting, with anathyrosis at its left side, from top to bottom rectangular. To the right of this cutting both face and bottom less carefully worked. "It seems to come from a larger building of later date" [than the Temple of Ares]. Pentelic marble. | |
