Description: | Most of one volute preserved, except for its lower edge. A part of a very large Ionic capital, with carefully carved details. Volute has solid center with traces of cement for attaching a rosette. Base of flower, at angle of echinus and volute is a slightly curved line. Outer edge around volute is solid not grooved. Pentelic marble. From Stoa of Zeus? Or from large Eta Building? Or from Areopagus group of capitals? | |
