Fragment of domed lid with start of knob, glazed on underside. Max. dim. 0.139.

From the center out: dots; women. At the left, a woman, a maid (upper left front to waist, most of head) moves to right, holding on her left forearm a chest with a sash hanging down. Before her is a woman (lower legs missing) seated to left on a cushioned seat, her right arm outstretched, her left raised. Next comes a third woman, a maid (preserved from the waist up) carrying on each forearm a chest with a sash. She moves to right, looking back. Then comes the fourth figure (head to right, shoulders in front view, raised right arm), a woman who is probably seated, looking around at a fifth (all that remains is about half of the chest with sash that she holds). Each wears a chiton. The third has a sakkos on her head; the rest have fillets. Preliminary sketch.

For the distinction between maids and women in this and similar compositions, see ARV2 1496.
