Fragment of inset lip and start of bowl. Max. dim. 0.069.

On exterior, lozenge pattern, each reserved lozenge decorated with a lozenge and dot drawn in dilute glaze.

The lozenge pattern on the exterior of stemless cups seems to occur only on some of those by the Marlay Painter and his close associate, the Lid Painter. Marlay Painter: Los Angeles 50.8.33 = A 5933.50.39 (ARV2 1279, 48; Addenda 357); Naples 2621 (ARV2 1279, 49); Oxford 1965.113 (ARV2 1279, 50; Paralip. 472, 50); Los Angeles 50.8.32 = A 5933.50.38 (ARV2 1279, 51; Addenda 357); and Laon 37.1064 (ARV2 1279, 51 bis; Addenda 357). Lid Painter: Naples 2623 (ARV2 1282, 3); London, B.M. GR 1917.7--26.1 (ARV2 1282, 10); Vienna 149 (ARV2 1282, 11); Sèvres 250 (ARV2 1282, 12); and London, B.M. GR 1917.7--26.2 (ARV2 1283, 13). 1348 is probably by one of these two painters, but without figures, one cannot be certain which. For the lozenge pattern on Corinthian skyphoi, see 1327; also, p. 65, note 30).
