Floor fragment with part of grooved ring base. Band and concentric circles on underside. Glaze fired reddish on inside behind woman. Max. dim. 0.07; est. diam. of base 0.09.
I, woman (head, shoulders, left wrist and hand, lower legs, and feet missing) seated to right on a rock, dressed in a chiton. Around her right wrist is a bracelet. Her left arm was bent upward at the elbow. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour. White (mostly flaked): bracelet.
Probably in the manner of the Meidias Painter. Compare the rather nervous, jerky drawing on 1387 with that on the lid of the pyxis London, B.M. E 775, which shows Dionysos with maenads (ARV2 1328, 92; Addenda 364; Burn, Meidias Painter, p. 116, cat. no. MM 136, pl. 19:a).
