Between the feet of this figure are the legs and part of the seat of an okladias and a fold of drapery. J. D. Beazley (Some Attic Vases in the Cyprus Museum [Proceedings of the British Academy 33], London 1948, p. 30) restored the main inscription as it is given above ("loving cup") and remarked that the style of drawing is similar to that of Boston, M.F.A. 10.193, which praises Athenodotos and recalls the early work of Douris (ARV2 1567, 12; Paralip. 506). For the inscription, see also Agora XXI, p. 12, cat. no. C 6. In K. J. Dover (Greek Homosexuality, Cambridge, Mass. 1978), 1410 is mentioned on p. 122 (cat. no. R 1123). For the subject of I, see H. A. Shapiro, AJA 85, 1981, pp. 133--143.

For the use of coral-red, see 1403.
