Bowl fragment. Max. dim. 0.069; est. diam. of tondo 0.12.

I, symposion (top of wreathed head of symposiast to left) playing kottabos. Above him is most of his drinking cup, probably held in his right hand (now missing). Around the tondo, stopped-maeander pattern with cross-squares. A, komos. One komast (from the hips down) dressed in a himation moves to right. In front of him, a bit of drapery and one foot of another, also to right. Behind the latter is part of a knobby stick and at the far left, a bit of another knobby stick. Between the two komasts hangs a basket with many strings hanging down. The first komast may have held a lyre because there is a long cord that overlaps him, which may be the string of a plektron. Below the figures, two reserved lines. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour. Red: wreath; cord of plektron; strings or tassels on basket.

For kottabos, see 1572.

Manner of the Brygos Painter: Sundry (ARV2 one 259, V, 1; ARV2 388, 3).
