Floor fragment underside scored with a spiral. Much of the glaze fired greenish. Max. dim. 0.05; est. inner diam. of tondo 0.054.

I, owl (part of head, feet missing). Around tondo, stopped-maeander pattern with cross-squares. Dilute glaze: cover and breast feathers.

For a well-preserved example of an owl between olive sprigs in the tondo of a cup, see the one once in the Basel Market (Kunstwerke der Antike. Auktion XXII. 13. Mai, 1961, p. 94, no. 176). On each side of the exterior of this cup there are three owls.
