Boy (most of legs, left elbow, right hand missing) to right, looking back, presumably at the horse he leads. In his lowered left hand he holds the reins and a goad; in his raised right hand he held the reins close to the horse's muzzle. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour. Dilute glaze: muscles. Red (flaked): fillet around head of boy; reins.
