Wall fragment. Dull, black glaze on inside. Glaze misfired reddish brown on part of outside; abraded slightly in places. P.H. 0.095; P.W. 0.055. Choes and Anthesteria, p. 84, cat. no. 192, fig. 286.

Two youths (most of head, right forearm, and right foot of one missing; a bit of the torso, legs, and right arm of the other remains) to left, the first one much smaller (a boy[?]) and slightly drawn back. In his left hand, he holds a string bag for knucklebones. Below, egg pattern with dots.

For astragal or knucklebone sacks, see Oakley, Phiale Painter, p. 41 and note 282 with earlier bibliography. There, he suggests that on 702 the left youth was probably dropping knucklebones from his extended right hand (now missing).
