Athena mounting a chariot to right. All that remains of the goddess is part of her himation, her right foot on the ground, and her right arm, with bracelet, extended to hold the reins, which are simply fine lines drawn in the glaze before it was completely dry. Below her arm is the breastwork of the chariot, and just to the left of the hind leg of the right-hand trace horse there is a segment of the rim of the right wheel. Of the team, their legs, part of the body and tail of the right-hand trace horse, the forelock and ears of the left-hand pole horse, and the head and neck of the left-hand trace horse remain. In front of the team is a male (upper body, outstretched arms), Hermes(?), wearing a chlamys fastened at his right shoulder. On the shoulder at the junction with the neck, tongue pattern. Below the figures, egg pattern with dots. On neck, wreath with fruit. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour: Athena's arm; breastwork of chariot; legs of horses, head of left-hand trace horse. Added clay: fruit. White: wreath; goad; bracelet.

The left-hand trace horse has a bit burr attached to the mouthpiece of its bit. For bit burrs, see 96.
