Chariot team, perhaps of Poseidon and Amphitrite, galloping to left over the sea. What remains are most of the hind legs and hoofs of the team, part of the wheels and axle of the vehicle, the ends of a cloak of someone in the chariot. Below the horses, two dolphins and part of a third cavort over the waves. At the very bottom, just above the stopped-maeander pattern with checkerboard-squares, is a row of dots indicating the floor of the sea. Behind the chariot is an upright encircled palmette and spirals from the configuration below the handle. Preliminary sketch. Relief contour. Added clay: dots. White: spray of waves.
