| Description: | Mycenaean stirrup vase. Incomplete. Glaze decoration; seven concentric bands from the neck attachment to the foot; debased papyrus design on the shoulders; zig zag pattern in central zone. False mouth, a series of fine concentric rings. The handles have a floral design. Buff clay. ADDENDA 2018: Fifty-four sherds mended into four non-joining sections to a large globular stirrup jar with flat false spout, flaring true spout, two partially-preserved strap handles, and a flat raised base. The exterior decoration consists of medium bands framing fine line groups. At the widest point of the body there is a horizontal zigzag framed by narrow bands. In the shoulder zone there is stylized flower motif with hooked stamen. The false spout is decorated with concentric circles with a solid circle in the center. The true spout has a painted lip and a medium band circling its junction with the body. The false spout is also outlined where it joins the body. The flat base is decorated with concentric circles. The paint is thick and fairly evenly applied, fired brown to dark brown. There are no traces of use-wear or burning. Furumark Shape: 173; Furumark Motif 1: 18 | |
