Title:		Statuette of Draped Seated Woman (and Child)
Category:		Bronze
Description:		Head, left arm from below shoulder, fingers of right hand, missing. Surface heavily corroded. The back open, where the figure has broken away from the object on which it sat. The figure sits with the left foot drawn slightly back, and the right hand clasping the left breast. She appears to have worn chiton and himation, but the condition of the surface makes the arrangement on the upper part of the body uncertain. The head of the figure, very badly damaged, and quite featureless from corrosion, found separately, joins. The figure of a nude seated child also belongs and joins. The head is missing. The child sits on the woman 's left knee, and she holds out her breast toward it. ADDENDA, March 2002: The head of female figure recorded missing Apr.1989 and still is. ADDENDA Nov. 2004: A bronze head, thought to be bearded and unindentifiable when in the bronze cleaning room during move in 1956, was labeled as such and left in a brown envelope until early 2000's. A. Paterakis pulled it for study and catalogued it B 2119, ΚΤΛ 1007. In 2004, it was identified by A. Anastassiades and W. Porter as the missing female head. It had been chemically stripped and looks somewhat different from 'before treatment' photo on front of blue index card (female head with long curling locks) but shape and size correspond, as do white corrosion spots on pitted chin.
