Description:   Boy with amphora.
The left side, part of the back, and the nozzle broken off.
Grotesque ithyphallic figure kneeling on his left knee, facing right, his face pressed against a large amphora on a pedestal, with an elaborate lid. There is a hole pierced in the wall of the amphora opposite the mouth of the figure; he may be drinking from it, but his puffed cheek suggests that his blowing into it. He wears a short tunic. The head of the figure and the top of the amphora are joined by a pierced vertical handle like that of lamps of type XXVII or XXVIII of Corinth collection.
Buff clay, glazed black inside, red to black outside. The glaze poor, dull, and peeling.

ADDENDA: Handle type XXVII: mold made, perforated, with grooves on the edge. Handle type XXVIII: not pierced but a plain solid knob. On some distinctly later lamps, usually signed ΧΙΟΝΗΣ, the handle is perforated. Almost without exception it is grooved on the edge.
