Agora Object: L 4885
Inventory Number:   L 4885
Section Number:   ΛΛ 1446
Title:   Plastic Lamp
Category:   Lamps
Description:   Nine joining and non-joining fragments.
On a cubical base, the front of which was adorned with figures in relief, the tip of a cap of Attis (?) is all that remains, stands a nude figure of Eros (?) of which only the lower right side of the body is preserved. Several fragments seem to represent bits of a rocky landscape, perhaps a background against which the figure leaned.
Since one fragment, which must represent the bottom edge of the base shows that there was no bottom to the base, it is uncertain in what part of the lamp-figure was attached the nozzle. The nozzle fragment preserved is rounded at the tip and had volutes at the sides.
Reddish-brown glaze with metallic lustre.
Brownish clay.
