Title:   Jug Fragment: West Slope

Description:   Three non-joining fragments; two from base and lower body, one from neck and shoulder. Low flat base; the upper and lower walls join at a sharp angle. On the lower body, between double grooves, ivy tendrils with terracotta paint petals and incised stems, and carelessly incised eggs in panels set off by double bands of white. Narrow grooved neck, with round(?) mouth and handle attachment at narrowest part of neck; neck set off by a raised band from shoulder. On shoulder, ivy wreath similar to that on lower body, but the leaves made of two dots with a straight stroke between.
Red glaze.
ADDENDA Subsequently published as two pots: P 10881 (fragment a): Sloping shoulder with ridge at top. Low, thin neck with two grooves and a ridge, made separately from body. Deep cup mouth. Thick handle attached below mouth. Ivy garland with incised stem on shoulder. Cf. P 10881 BIS
