Title:   Black Figure Neck Amphora
Category:   Pottery
Description:   Foot broken off; small pieces missing from body and lip; and one handle. Eggy body; narrow neck marked off above and below by light ridges; broad echinus lip; high ridged handles. Above the foot, a raised ring, red; then a narrow red band from which spring rays; then a zone of linked lotuses between double bands. Red on ridge at base of neck; below it, short tongues; palmette and lotus ornament under the handles. The handles glazed, and the lip; its top reserved, with a red line at inner and outer edge. On neck, front and back, bordered top and bottom by a single line, three palmettes.
A) Quadriga right, the charioteer stepping into the chariot; behind the horses a helmeted warrior also right, looking back left; and just in front of the horses, a dog.
B) A warrior, with helmet, shield and dog, standing left between two draped figures, a woman to the left and a man to the right.
Considerable incision. Red and white freely used for details.
Context:   Well 2, containers 17 and 18, bottom fill.
