Title:   Black Figure Column Krater Fragment

Description:   Nearly three-quarters of the circle of the neck preserved with half the rim, including most of one handle and the start of the other; also part of the shoulder and wall on one side, with the upper parts of five figures. Linked buds on upper face of lip; double lotus and palmette on handle panel; ivy band on vertical face. Tongues on shoulder, alternating red and black, above figured panel; ivy band at sides. Figures, from left to right: two bearded boxers, with bound fists, facing each other; then a cloaked beardless figure, left; then a nude bearded figure, right, facing a cloaked bearded figure.
Traces of added color on garments; glaze dull; rather careless incision.
Context:   Well 2, containers 16-19, bottom fill.
