Title:   Red Figure Pyxis Fragments

Description:   Two pieces from an almost straight side wall. Slight out-turn at lip; vertical flange, inset from lip, reserved.
a) Part of ovule band preserved at top. Head and right shoulder of draped woman; head, in profile, turned sharply to left; hair worn in top-knot high on back of head; wreath, earring and jewels at neck of dress in applied clay. To the left, part of wreath with berries in applied clay. To left of head, one letter: <graphic>
b) Crowned winged Eros flying left, with one leg bent back at knee; playing with some animal or object which covers lower part of body, broken at left. At lower right corner, a bit of drapery, perhaps of figure in fragment a). Inscription at right of Eros: <graphic>
Partial relief contour. Inscriptions in faded white. Inside, good black glaze.
