Title:   Black Figure Hydria Fragments

Description:   a) and b) from the same panel.
a) Mended from seven pieces, preserves much of the upper part of two women facing right; of the figure at the left the head is missing, the left arm (hand missing) upraised; the figure at the right (top of head missing) holds an hydria in front of her.
b) Lower parts of these same figures, a bit of the ivy border at the left, and a band of intertwining lotus buds below.
c) Forepart of horse, most of head missing.
d) and e) are from the lower part of body, with band of thick rays, below a wide band of black glaze.
e) Gives a bit of the bottom.
Incision used for details, traces of white paint on faces and arms. A red band at the top of the zone of rays and two red bands around the body higher up, just below the figured panel.

Context:   Pottery dump of modern times, surface fill. Fauvel Collection.
