Title:   Red Figure Oinochoe

Description:   Two joining fragments give the base of the pot complete and part of the wall (a); two more (b) come from the wall above. Bottom reserved and colored pink; scraped groove at junction of foot and wall. Brown wash inside. Egg and dot pattern below scene.
a) Part of a draped boy running right, carrying a lyre.
b) Parts of three boys, nude save for cloaks flung over their arms, running right. He at the right carries a torch in his outstretched right hand. The first of the two figures following (head preserved with wreath and fillet) has his right hand around the waist of the second, toward whom he looks back; in his extended left hand, a jug. The second figure has his left arm flung out behind the shoulder of the first.
Relief contour not quite complete; vanished color for flames of torch. Gilding over clay on the filleted wreath.
ADDENDA Many fragments added from sherds give the height complete (to top of handle) and a bit of the rim. Around the neck, ivy wreath in added clay. Excellent glaze.
