Title:   Plate Fragment with Maker's Signature and Rouletting

Description:   Half of floor, with stamp, preserved and part of rim; restored in plaster. Shallow plate with angular profile, vertical rim and keel at base of rim. Line of rouletting around rim on outside.
In center, within rouletted circle, the stamp: <graphic>
Slightly micaceous buff clay; orange-red glaze, peeling in spots, not applied on underside. Samian B.
Context:   West road and crain, cut to north of 1778 wall, sandy fill under layer III.
