Title:   Red Figure Mug

Description:   Most of rim, part of upper wall and fragments from elsewhere missing. One small rim fragment does not join. Oinochoe, shape VIII: deep broad pear-shaped body, flaring rim and broad band handle from rim. The outer edge of the wall forms the resting surface; within this is a broad shallow convex moulding around the flat depressed center, the moulding reserved, and two reserved circles around mid-point.
Banqueting scene: two nude youths reclining to right and left of a large column-krater; the right figure holds a drinking horn and a second horn lies beside him. Added clay also for the fillet of the right hand youth and for the bunches of berries which ornament it. Note the original sketch for this figure's profile. Hairline reserved(?).
Part of inscription in added buff paint over krater: <graphic>, and beside left hand figure: <graphic>, and over right hand figure: <graphic>
Black glaze, much worn; relief contours and black inner drawing almost completely vanished.
