Title:   Red Figure Skyphos
Category:   Pottery
Description:   Five joining fragments from an open bowl with out-turned lip; attachment for horizontal handle at left of fragment. The profile suggests the upper part of a goblet-type skyphos, but the siz e would be unusually large. On body, griffin couchant with a floral ornament arching up over his back from near the handle. Beneath, there was apparently a second decorated zone, separated from the upper by a reserved band; part of a wing remains. Egg pattern on outside of lip.
Good black glaze.
