Title:   Amphora with Graffito

Description:   Fragments of wall missing; restored in plaster. Similar in shape to P 16438 (ΓΓ 893), but more neatly made, the foot higher, the lip slightly down-sloping, the handles set lower on the neck and arched. Neck straight and without grooves at top.
On the shoulder, a large Δ.
Outside, reddish dilute glaze wash; inside, on lip, foot and for band around body, thicker glaze, black to red.
ADDENDA P 16438: Plump body on ring foot; wide neck, slightly flaring; projecting lip, flat on top. Band handles from below lip to edge of shoulder.
Context:   Well, upper fill, containers 1-10. Context ca. 425-400 B.C.
