Category:   Pottery
Description:   About half the rim and upper wall missing, with one handle; restored in plaster.
A) Orpheus and the Thracians. Orpheus, his cloak around his lower body, his lyre held in his lap, sits on a rock, right, beneath a tree(?) (trunk only) behind him. A vine grows over the rock seat. To either side, looking towards him, a standing Thracian; both wearing caps with lappets and long point and heavily ornamented cloaks, and carrying spears.
B) A draped woman, left, between two cloaked youths.
No relief contour. Brown wash on caps and rocks. Maeander below scenes. Egg and dot around handle. The rim is set off from the wall, and decorated with pairs of slender leaves alternating with berries on long stems, the latter and also the leaf-stems, done in added clay. Considerable remains of red wash. Glaze somewhat mottled.
The krater was used as a paint-pot; a large quantity of miltos remains inside.
