Title:   Mushroom Jug

Description:   Much of the mouth and wall missing; restored in plaster with two adjacent handles (one only remains) on the analogy of P 16505 (ΓΓ 960). Shape somewhat similar to P 16503 (ΓΓ 958), but less wide in proportion to height, the upper part much more rounded, the lower wall steeper. The round mouth has a plain flaring lip; the foot is a ring with broad resting surface.
Black glaze wash inside. Black glaze, dull, inside the neck and around the top of the lip outside, also on the outside of the handle; for two narrow bands around the wall, one at the lower handle attachment, the other at the shoulder angle; and on the foot. Thin brownish dilute wash on the rest of the pot, except the bottom.
ADDENDA P 16503: Ring foot; flaring lower wall joining the dome-shaped upper wall at an acute angle. Short neck; round mouth with thickened lip rounded on the outside. Doubled handle, rising from the lip and attached to the wall above the shoulder.
