Title:   Black Figure Amphora

Description:   Mended from many pieces. Much of the body preserved to the start of the shoulder with part of one horizontal handle. Nothing of the neck or foot. Above the base, large rays, filled in with streaky brown around the front of the pot, left in outline at the back. Above the rays, a broad zone of black, bordered above and below with pairs of red bands. The upper body and shoulder reserved and decorated. On the front, part of a siren, right, next to the handle; two incised rosettes with red centers in the field. Red for the siren's breast and wing feathers and for alternating petals of the rosettes. On the back and under the handle, a large guilloche and spiral pattern, drawn in broad lines of streaky brown. The handle round in section, glazed black.
