Title:   Plate Fragments with Relief Decoration

Description:   Fragment of vertical rim from a large Western Sigillata plate. In applied relief, a small female mask, hanging from a curving band.
Fine light red clay; good glaze.
ADDENDA Two fragments b) and c) added from sherds, the larger mended from three, giving part of the rim and the flat floor, and the beginning of the ring foot. On the floor, incised circles, the outer pair framing a rouletted band. At the center, the end of a plantaform stamp, no letters. On the rim, in applied relief: b) a bird flying upwards; c) the end of a volute scroll and another bird.
Context:   Clearing west end of Middle Stoa, layer III.
