Description: | Mended from many pieces; the medallion missing, and parts of the rim and wall. Restored in plaster. Above the medallion, a ring of pointed oval leaves, each with a dotted central vein; on the tips of the leaves, dogs right, chasing foxes(?). Above them, prancing centaurs, playing musical instruments: lyre, trumpet, and double flute. Erotes and birds in the field; the centaur playing flute has a small Eros standing on his back. Upper zone: guilloche, line of beading, double spirals topped with small leaves. Firm black to brownish glaze. | |
