Title:   Red Figure Bell Krater Fragment

Description:   Wall fragment, mended from four; broken off just below rim. At left, a winged female figure, looking left, moving right, carrying a phiale in her outstretched left hand. Beside her bent right elbow, a large thyrsos. At right, part of a standing satyr, three-quarters right. Between these two figures, right, at a lower level, and at a much smaller scale than the last, the head and shoulders of a Pan, playing the double pipes. White for the woman's flesh, for the thyrsos, for her jewelled hair-ribbon; white also for the wreath and filet of Pan, and for the pipes. Yellow over-drawing; dilute glaze for the hair; dilute glaze also for a broad vertical band hanging along the satyr's left side; drapery?
Firm glaze, somewhat metallic.
Context:   Pit, 4th. c. through layers 1-3 in House T, Room 4.
