Title:   Red Figure Skyphos Fragment: Type A

Description:   Fragment from rim and side; mended from two pieces. The body curves inward slightly toward a plain edge beneath which is an ovolo band. Below, a nude male figure, front, head to left; lower arms and legs below thighs missing. The figure looks at a shallow bowl which he appears to have been holding in his right hand at the level of his eye. Left arm bent at elbow and outstretched. Hair wreathed, with a curled lock hanging to neck at side. Traces of some other object in field to right. Sketchy work with coarse relief lines.
Attic clay, fairly good black glaze inside and out.
