Description: | Fragment from one side of lower part of vase preserves much of the face and neck of a woman; broken along brows, at left side of face and at base of neck; at right side, broken along edge of mould. Nose chipped. A few scalloped locks of hair are preserved at the brow, and a large ornament at the right side. Dull black glaze on lower part of neck, with two thick pellets of clay added over: necklace(?). Smears of black glaze also along the edge of the mould. Thick matte white in part preserved on the face, with traces of yellow over. Inside, unglazed except for drips from the missing rim above. Firm pinkish-buff clay. Cf. CVA BM, III Ic, pl. 37, 5a. | |
